The Network Playwright Program

Open to playwrights throughout the country, our Chicago Dramatists’ Network Playwright Program is available to any writer who has the desire to advance their craft, plays, and careers through a comprehensive professional development program. Network members enjoy ample opportunities at CD to hear their plays read, gain feedback from peers and theatre professionals, and present their work to the public. As a member of the Network, you’ll join a vibrant artistic community; many of our most successful Network Members regularly see their work produced in readings, festivals and workshops throughout the country. You’ll also build the skills and portfolio to realize your artistic ambitions.

Membership benefits include:
  • An annual First Draft Reading, via Zoom or in the Russ Tutterow Theatre, where Network Members read and critique each other’s work, guided by a theatre professional.
  • Submission to the bi-annual Network Playwright Ten-Minute Play Festival, which brings professional actors and directors to the stage for readings in the Russ Tutterow Theatre.
  • Online meetups throughout the year
  • Discounts on all CD Classes and Intensives

  • Quarterly in-person Salon/Craft events
