Resident Playwright
Cheryl Coons returns to Chicago Dramatists as both a Resident Playwright and a former Board member. A nationally respected musical theater writer, her work has been featured at the O’Neill, the National Alliance for Musical Theatre’s Festival of New Musicals, and the New York Musical Theatre Festival. Her original musicals have been produced at Northlight Theatre, the Marriott Theatre, and Drury Lane, and she contributed lyrics for productions of The Merry Wives of Windsor and Measure for Measure at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre. Coons is a Tony and Jeff voter, serves on the National Council of the Dramatists Guild, and has taught at Columbia College, Northwestern University, and Chicago Dramatists. Her notable works include At Wit’s End, The Woman in Question, Female Problems: An Unhelpful Guide, and River’s End.
