Writing the Ten Minute Musical
Write a ten minute musical!
Instructors: Cheryl Coons and J. Sebastian Fabal
Learn advanced musical theatre storytelling techniques by creating original work in this compact, ten minute form. Writers and/or writing teams will create a 10 minute musical inspired by a story, object, idea, or experience at the Chicago History Museum. You’ll share work in class every week, culminating in a workshop with actors and a director in the final class sessions.
In addition, 10 Minute Musicals from this class will be eligible for a very special opportunity: readings of 6 finalist musicals will be showcased in the Chicago Musical Theatre Festival, produced by Underscore Theatre Company in January 2020.
Sign up with your collaborator and pay a single course fee, or sign up as an individual writer or composer and pair with other writers in the class to create work.
August 17th, August 31st, and September 14th will not have classes to allow members of the class time to write.
If you're signing up as a writing team select one of the "Collaborator" options (different depending on whether you are new to the Dramatists or not) to register one member of the team for the normal payment and the other as a "Guest" for free! Email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (312) 633-0630 if you have any questions when registering.
