Judge Katherine McClellan is extorted by a stranger who claims to have evidence that her long-estranged daughter was involved in a heinous crime. If the judge doesn’t fix a case for the extortionist, he will turn her daughter in. The judge is torn between her ethics and dedication to the law and her love and sense of responsibility for her daughter. Resolving this dilemma causes the judge to confront some unpleasant truths about herself.
About the First Draft Series
The First Draft Series is an exclusive series of Tuesday-night play readings for and by First Draft Member playwrights. These are private, salon-style readings in which playwrights perform the roles and then discuss the plays in a format similar to that used in the Saturday Series. The discussions are moderated by a Resident Playwright or member of the artistic staff.
