Back Draft by Rolfe Sick

Moderator: Interim Artistic Director, Dana Lynn Formby

We don’t always do the right things in life. Most of the time the effects are drawn only upon ourselves. Then there are the tumultuous occasions where family and loved ones are caught in the crosshair of our mis -guidance. Bill Halsey’s past has unknowingly contributed to the loss of his son--a loss that he cannot move beyond, nor can he cease the endless search for those who appear responsible for the tragedy. But, those discoveries will threaten the futures of a community of leaders, a daughter who has already been devastated by her twin brother’s death, and a young man who’s arrival feels like a salve of life’s injustices. Can he see through the dampening mist of tragedy that enshrouds him and blinds his sense of retribution vs. happiness? Simple choices aren’t so simple when the truth becomes known.

About the First Draft Series

The First Draft Series is an exclusive series of Tuesday-night play readings for and by First Draft Member playwrights. These are private, salon-style readings in which playwrights perform the roles and then discuss the plays in a format similar to that used in the Saturday Series. The discussions are moderated by a Resident Playwright or member of the artistic staff.
