We are in technical rehearsals/previews for The Making of a Modern Folk Hero by Resident Playwright Martín Zimmerman, produced by Other Theatre, in association with Chicago Dramatists' Grafting Project.
A special benefit performance of Martín's play is scheduled for Thursday, October 12 at 8pm. Tickets are $40 and include a light reception afterwards with members of the artistic team. All proceeds go towards Chicago Dramatists' future Grafting Projects. Join us by purchasing tickets here.
The Grafting Project offers free theatre rental to a guest company which is producing a Resident Playwright's play. Applications for this grant open October 1.
About the playwright: Martín Zimmerman is a multi-ethnic, bilingual playwright and screenwriter whose plays include Seven Spots On The Sun, On The Exhale, White Tie Ball, The Making Of A Modern Folk Hero,The Solid Sand Below, and Let Me Count The Ways, and have been produced or developed at The Kennedy Center, Goodman Theatre, Cincinnati Playhouse In The Park, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, La Jolla Playhouse, Alley Theatre, Roundabout Underground, Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, LCT3, and New York Theatre Workshop (among others) with upcoming projects at Roundabout Theatre Company, La Jolla Playhouse, and Milwaukee Repertory Theater.
Martín is an Executive Story Editor on Netflix’s Ozark, was a Staff Writer on Netflix’s Narcos, has been the Alliance for Latino Theater Artists (ALTA) Artist of the Month, was a member of the 2011-2012 Playwrights’ Unit at Goodman Theatre, is a Playwright in Residence at Teatro Vista, and a Resident Playwright at Chicago Dramatists.
