Playwrights' Preview

A long-standing Chicago Dramatists tradition, the Playwrights' Preview is a Writer's Studio members-only event of attending a production in preview performances with a party afterwards.

This event features Still Dance the Stars by Jayme McGhan, directed by Sarah Norris and produced by New Light Theatre Project, in association with Chicago Dramatists.

Six years after their viral marriage proposal video swept the internet, James and Anne begrudgingly prepare for yet another nationally televised interview with a notoriously difficulty TV anchor. The night before the interview, James and Anne drunkenly battle for and against their marriage using a box of stuffed animals won from various carnivals as symbolic characters from their real lives. One special stuffed animal, Hope the Hippo, makes it her quest to rekindle the flame of love that James and Anne once shared.

Still Dance the Stars is part of Chicago Dramatists' Grafting Project - an award of free theatre space for companies producing a Resident Playwright's work. It was given a reading last year as part of the Saturday Series under its previous title, Hope the Hippo.

Tickets are limited to one per member; extra tickets for non-members can be purchased for only $10.
