New Work By Network Playwright, Helen Valenta
Post-Reading Discussion Moderated by Chicago Dramatists' Casting Director, Tara Branham
Arthur is a misanthrope who only loves his guinea pig Jimmy. When Jimmy unexpectedly dies after eating a bad piece of chicken, Art is forced to do the unacceptable: reach out to others. But the only person he can think of to call is his ex, and she still blames Jimmy for their breakup. And what's he going to do about his mother, who thinks of Jimmy as the grandchild she never had?
About the First Draft Series
The First Draft Series is an exclusive series of Tuesday-night play readings for and by First Draft Member playwrights. These are private, salon-style readings in which playwrights perform the roles and then discuss the plays in a format similar to that used in the Saturday Series. The discussions are moderated by a Resident Playwright or member of the artistic staff.
