Radio Theatre/Podcast Workshop
Instructor: Trina Kakacek

Ready to get on the audio theatre bandwagon? Got something you think would make a great podcast? This very hands-on workshop will get you set to create theatre for the ear.  We’ll do some writing, some listening, and some playing with foley art and music.  After the holiday weekend, we’ll reconvene with a few ensemble members from Small Fish Radio to have some fun with recording equipment.
Prerequisite:  This workshop is intended for writers with a basic knowledge of dramatic writing.  For the purpose of this workshop we’ll be working with SHORT pieces only.  While you can always start your radio play from scratch - for the first session bring along a few short plays or stories. Ten minutes or less.  If you can, bring your plays on your laptop or tablet so you have more to choose from, and we can start making audio theatre on the spot.
Trina Kakacek is a playwright, and the co-producer, writer,  director sound designer/engineer at Small Fish Radio Theatre. She teaches playwriting to public high school students in Chicago on behalf of Pegasus Theater’s Young Playwrights Festival.
Consider attending the next Small Fish Radio live show, June 19th at Chicago Dramatists as an educational supplement to the class. Details at www.smallfishradio.com
