The Chicago Dramatists Network Playwright program is the only one of its kind in the country, offering artistic community and play development opportunities to playwrights at all levels of experience, wherever they live. The program is open to anyone who wants to develop and hone his/her skills writing for the stage.

BENEFITS

The Network Playwright program provides a terrific set of benefits and services to its members, including:

• Script Lab critiques—Detailed script analyses by Chicago Dramatists Resident playwrights and artistic staff
• First Draft Series readings—Exclusive Tuesday-night readings for and by Network playwrights
• Master classes—Access and discounts to annual weekend workshops devoted to developing new work
• Public readings—Eligibility to have works read in the Saturday Series readings
• Deadline Workshop participation—Eligibility to take part in a special workshop requiring “writing-on-demand” and weekly deadlines
• Instant Theatre participation—Access to our unique, monthly program designed to quickly generate new ideas for plays through writing 2-5 minute plays or scenes on a common theme

MEMBERSHIP LEVELS

Network Playwright program membership comes in two basic forms:

• Chicago—For playwrights who live within 100 miles of Chicago ($200/year)
• National—For writers who live beyond the sacred 100-mile limit ($125/year)

And Chicago playwrights who have been in the Network program for at least three consecutive years can apply for "Senior Network" status ($300/year), which provides some exclusive benefits, including: unlimited Script Lab submissions, a two-hour dramaturgical session, and a complimentary play-marketing seminar. (Applications for Senior Network status are accepted once every two years.)
