Acting for Writers
Instructor: Resident Playwright Alum John Green
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to live inside of a character, speaking the writer’s words? Acting For Writers is an introductory level acting course exploring the basic language and techniques of acting - character, given circumstances, motivation and intent - as they apply to writing a play. Through theatre games, exercises and simple scripts, Resident Playwright/Actor John Green will introduce you to what an actor needs in order to bring a script to life and how to enrich writing for the stage.
The course is designed for absolute beginners and experienced actors who want to review the basics as they apply them to writing.
John Green taught all levels of acting for twenty years at Act One Studios. He developed Acting for Writers at Chicago Dramatists and has since taught it at as an adjunct at Northwestern University and various work shops here and in Colorado. John's plays have been produced across the US and abroad.
