The Resident Playwright Program is the core program at Chicago Dramatists. Resident Playwrights enjoy six years of new-play development opportunities such as private and public readings, workshops, and productions.
While in residence, Resident Playwrights actively embrace our core values of connectivity and community by supporting their fellow writers; they serve as moderators and dramaturgs for each other and often teach in The Writer's Studio.
In 2017, Chicago Dramatists launched the Tutterow Fellowship. Sponsored by the Joyce Foundation, this two-year program provides intense training, mentorship and a new-play commission.
Resident Playwright Alumni are playwrights who have completed their residency terms with Chicago Dramatists.
The Associate Artists at Chicago Dramatists are talented theatre professionals throughout Chicago that make all of this work possible and our Associate Dramaturgs provide script-development expertise through our Script Lab program.
Applications for Residency open February 1, 2018.
Applications for the Tutterow Fellowship are due by December 15, 2017.
