THE BLUE PRINT - Powerful Plays and the Structure that Holds Them This class will take an in-depth look into the dramatic elements of four plays: ÒA DollÕs HouseÓ by Henrik Ibsen, ÒTake me OutÓ by Richard Greenberg, ÒThe Clean HouseÓ by Sarah Ruhl, and ÒRuinedÓ by Lynn Nottage. By examining and pinpointing the building blocks of these plays, writers will create an outline and bring pages to class of a brand new full-length play. (Participants are asked to obtain the plays on their own, prior to class.) This Course is offered at the following times:
Instructor Bios: DANA LYNN FORMBY DANA LYNN FORMBY is a Resident Playwright at Chicago Dramatists where she co-manages the Instant Theatre program. Her recent plays have been read at the 2009 WordBRIDGE play lab, The Public Theater, Alliance Theatre, Premiere Stages, and Victory Gardens Theater. She holds an MFA in playwriting from Ohio University. Her play ÒInherit the WholeÓ received its world premiere last spring in Chicago with Mortar Theatre, where she is an ensemble member. |
