M.E.H. Lewis is a two-time Illinois Arts Council Fellow (2004, 2008). Her play CREOLE (an O'Neill semi-finalist) premiered at InFusion Theatre in 2007, where it garnered a must-see from CenterStage and a 4 Star review from TimeOut. FELLOW TRAVELLERS premiered at Stage Left Theatre in 2006, a critically acclaimed production which won a Joseph Jefferson Citation for Best New Work. FELLOW TRAVELLERS also won the Dayton Playhouse FutureFest competition. BURYING THE BONES premiered at Stage Left in 2004 and was nominated for a Joseph Jefferson Award for Best New Work. HUNGER MOON was part of the Cherry Lane Alternative festival in 2000. Lewis's first play, CHARMS FOR PROTECTION, won the Julie Harris award. She is a Resident at Chicago Dramatists, an ensemble member at Stage Left and Infamous Commonwealth Theatre, an artistic associate at American Theatre Company, and a member of the Dramatists Guild, Womens Theater Alliance and TPC. She is currently developing two new plays--SURROGATE, which will receive a workshop production in LeapFest, Stage Left's new play festival, and HUNGRY GHOSTS.
