Aline Lathrop is the recipient of numerous awards, including an Illinois Arts Council fellowship and a Dr. Donahue Tremaine grant. The critically acclaimed world premier production of Feast at Chicago Dramatists received the “Highly Recommended” designation by Chicago Sun Times, was cited as one of the “Top 5 Best New Plays” of the year by New City Magazine, and won first prize in the Centre Stage – South Carolina! New Plays Festival. A Piece of Bone received its Jeff-recommended world premier at Circle Theatre of Forest Park. While the Baby Sleeps has been developed at American Theatre Company, Chicago Dramatists, and Stage Left Theatre Company, and has been a Finalist for the Finding Voice Award, the Lark Theatre Company’s Playwrights’ Week, and the Ashland New Plays Festival. Never Farewell has been developed at Chicago Dramatists, Circle Theater of Forest Park, and through the Women at the Door Festival (where it was presented in a staged reading at Victory Gardens), and has been a Finalist for the Julie Harris Award, among others. Ms. Lathrop has also developed plays at Abingdon Theatre Company, Boarshead Theatre, and the Chicago Cultural Center, among others. Her new play, Bordello¸ is currently in development. She is a member of the Dramatists Guild, and is a Chicago Dramatists Resident Playwright. The playwright is a graduate of Northwestern University with a double major in Theatre and Comparative Literature, and a minor in French. She resides in Chicago with her husband and their two young daughters.
