JOSEPH FEDORKO has been working in theatres throughout Chicago since his arrival there in 1984. To date, he has written nine full-length plays, at least twelve one-acts and short plays, three unproduced radio adaptations of short stories by John Sayles, and two untyped screenplays.His play REBUTTALS was given an acclaimed production in 1988 at Chicago Dramatists. Its companion piece, SCRIMMAGES, was a finalist in the 1991 National Youth Theatre Playwrighting Competition sponsored by Indiana University/Purdue University of Indianapolis. The two plays were published in 1991 by Baker's Plays of Boston under the title EXTRACURRICULARS and has been produced in theatres and high schools in at least twelve states since their publication.Mr. Fedorko's play ACTS OF CONTRITION was produced at Greenwich House Theatre in New York in 1994 and in 1995 by Terrapin Theatre in Chicago. His play 18 U.S. CODE 871 was given Honorable Mention in the Stage Play Script category of the 2000 Writers Digest Competition. 18 U.S. CODE 871 was also included in the New Plays 2000 festival at Chicago's Prop Thtr. His play THE LOST SHEEP was selected as part of StageLeft Theatre's LeapFest in 2004.Mr. Fedorko has been a Resident Playwright at Chicago Dramatists since 1987. He received Bachelors Degrees in English and Drama from Cleveland State University in 1984 and a Masters Degree in English from Northwestern University in 1990. He is currently a teacher in the Masters of Fine Arts program in Creative Writing at Roosevelt University in Chicago, and hopes to complete his own MFA in Poetry in 2004. He is a member of the Dramatists Guild and served on the Board of Directors of the Chicago Alliance for Playwrights from 1996 to 1998.
