The Writer's Studio Solo Show & Storytelling track is designed to provide writers with a solid foundation for developing and performing solo shows and long-form narratives. From 2-day to 8-week classes you will write, train, refine, polish, and will even perform your solo show or story before a live audience.

Solo Show & Storytelling Foundations
Are you thinking about writing a one-person show or long-form narrative story? Perhaps you are in the final stages of polishing one? Then this class is designed to serve you! This six-week class is for storytellers, solo artists, actors, stand-ups, and playwrights of all levels who want to hone their voice, plot structure, audience relationship techniques, character development, plus much more.
Solo Show & Storytelling Bootcamp (August 2018 only)
This two-day class is designed for actors, playwrights, solo artists, and storytellers of all levels who want a concentrated dose of technique to help write a one-person show/narrative story or to polish up the final stages of one. You will focus on finding your voice, defining structure, audience relationship, character development, plus much more!
This four-session course is for playwrights, actors, and storytellers with some story experience, who want an intense period of technique training to develop a solo show or long-form narrative. Each week, you will create and present work-in-progress—doing warm-ups and exercises intended to inspire and deepen your writing—with the goal to ready you for production.Prerequisites: Solo Show & Storytelling Bootcamp or Foundations

You have skills and written material, now it is time to take yourself to the next level. This advanced-level class is designed for actors, storytellers, solo artists, and playwrights to workshop your voice, the voice of your story, and refine your performing skills. Over six sessions you will prepare your work for a public staged reading here at Chicago Dramatists.
Prerequisites: Solo Show & Storytelling Bootcamp, Foundations, or permission of Instructor
Marketing and Producing your Solo Show
This 3-day intensive is designed for actors, playwrights, solo artists, and storytellers of all levels who want to self-produce a solo show, play or story event. You will learn how to create a visible presence in your city, use social media advertising, vlogging and blogging, buzz-building, writing press releases, and so much more!
Are you interested in learning how to perform the 5-10 minute format of live storytelling? This six-week course will give you the narrative tools to illuminate your personal experience, bringing your truth and presence to the stage with comfort, skill, and joy. Classes consist of playful games and exercises designed to be both skill building and generative, followed by inquiry and discussion. At the end you will be ready to perform in a Chicago-style Live Storytelling event here at Chicago Dramatists.
